Bedwell Budgies ……..B7287
In comparison to the other people listed on this wonderful site of John’s, we have only had budgerigars for a short while and are therefore, by comparison, newcomers to the hobby.
We will always be grateful to John Isles and Barrie Shutt who let us have our first English budgerigars and since then have started to build up our flock.
Our first aviary was situated outside with a portioned off section big enough for 4 breeding cages and a main flight which was then sectioned into two parts to house the Spanish budgerigars that we started off the hobby with and the larger part for the newly acquired English birds.
After much deliberation we have now built a new aviary on the roof solarium. Many People said it would be too hot but with the tiled roof it gives a lot of shade and it suits the birds much better than the old aviary did.
We also planned to build an outside flight but because the aviary is open on all sides, has plenty of fresh air we have decided to wait and see how it works. We have built 12 breeding cages along the opposite wall to the flight.
In 2009 we bred 39 birds and now have 44 to start the 2010 breeding season with.
For winter we place temporary panels of hardboard around our new birdroom to protect it from the winter winds which can be very strong at times.
This year we have applied for membership of The Buderigar Society as a foreign member and we will be proud to ring our budgies with B7287 in the future.
Please feel free to contact us to visit our aviary and birdroom and we will make you very welcome.
